BF6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with several of the title's toughest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun resorting to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how demanding these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of getting a dozen out of forty-one key firearms found within the game.

Some of these restricted firearms could shortly find their way on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you want to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

A different forum member highlighted a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns

This is challenging enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.

However, when tackling the tasks in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for completing them in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

For now, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these challenging battlefield assignments, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
