When SITE recently asked members what the association means to them, it\u2019s no surprise that our global community had a lot to share!\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/h2>

Here\u2019s one of our favorite stories, shared by Meredith Phillips from SITE Mountain West.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/h3>

Joining SITE has been an incredible journey, both professionally and personally. I still remember my first chapter event with SITE Mountain West \u2014 it felt like stepping into a fun and welcoming community that truly gets the value of shared experiences.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Then, attending my first global event in NYC opened my eyes to the fact that SITE is so much more than a professional association; it\u2019s a global community that champions meaningful connections, drives industry standards, and elevates the purpose of incentive travel.<\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Becoming actively involved with SITE Mountain West has opened doors I never anticipated. It\u2019s given me the chance to foster relationships that reach far beyond my local community, creating friendships and connections that span the globe. These relationships have become invaluable to my work, allowing me to lean on trusted peers for support, new ideas, and collaboration, both locally and internationally.<\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/p>

Honestly, SITE is just so much FUN! From events like the SITE Midwest Forums, SITE Global, SITE ISA, and our very first SITE Mountain West Summit, every experience is filled with genuine camaraderie and memorable moments. These aren\u2019t just professional gatherings; they\u2019re shared adventures that turn into lifelong memories.<\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/p>

My time with SITE has made me not only a more connected and confident professional but also a passionate advocate for the incentive travel industry. It\u2019s a community that celebrates the beauty of our world \u2014 from stunning destinations to the inspiring people behind them \u2014 and I\u2019m so grateful to be a part of it!<\/span>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Meredith also had tons more to share, in a recent Q&A with our membership team.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/p>

Q: What course of study did you follow prior to joining our industry?<\/strong><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/h4>

A<\/strong>: I studied Business Management and played sports throughout high school and college, which taught me discipline and teamwork.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

After graduating, I moved to Aspen, where there are multiple hospitality jobs. I started working at a front desk and gradually took on various roles that ultimately led me to Group Sales.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

While I didn\u2019t have formal hospitality training, I\u2019ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who have guided and supported me. Their experience and encouragement has helped me learn and grow throughout my career.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>

If you didn\u2019t work in your current incentive travel industry segment, which one would you like to work in? Why?<\/strong><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/h4>

A<\/strong>: DMCs, DMOs, and incentive agencies all sound interesting to me \u2014 any role where I can create memorable experiences and build meaningful relationships is where I know I\u2019ll thrive.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

For me, the most important factor is company culture. I\u2019m drawn to organizations that prioritize their people, foster collaboration, and create an environment where everyone feels valued.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

I\u2019ve been fortunate to work for companies with incredible cultures, which is a big reason why I\u2019ve stayed with them for so long. At Club Med, I\u2019ve seen firsthand how many employees dedicate their entire careers to the brand, and my previous company shared that same ethos.<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>

If budget was no obstacle and you were SITE\u2019s CEO, what project or initiative would you immediately implement?<\/strong><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/h4>

A<\/strong>: When I think of SITE, the word that comes to mind is\u00a0<\/span>community<\/span><\/em>.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

As a global organization, it can be challenging to provide meaningful time and support to every chapter, board member, and member. If budget were no obstacle, I would organize biannual gatherings for all chapter board members \u2014 with all expenses covered. These events would include impactful education, inspiring speakers, and opportunities for collaboration.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

This would create buzz and excitement about getting involved and would also ensure chapter leaders feel valued and appreciated. Investing in them strengthens the foundation of the SITE community.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

What\u2019s the best career advice you ever received?<\/strong><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/h4>

A<\/strong>: It wasn\u2019t so much advice as it was a statement that stuck with me. Ellen Collins from Vail Resorts once said,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cPeople make a place,\u201d<\/span><\/em>\u00a0and I carry that with me. Without people who give their time, hearts, and openness, we wouldn\u2019t have hospitality or a true sense of community.\u00a0<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

On a personal note, my husband often reminds me of the\u00a0<\/span>\u201cpower in pause.\u201d<\/span><\/em>\u00a0It\u2019s a great reminder when I\u2019m feeling overwhelmed!<\/span><\/o:p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
