And, in keeping with how Deloitte presented much of its data, we\u2019re offering you two different takes on the headlines that jumped out to us. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>Enjoy part one below from \u201cmillennial manager\u201d Sydney Nolan, a member of SITE\u2019s Marketing &amp; Communications team, before digging into part two by \u201cboomer boss\u201d P\u00e1draic Gilligan, SITE\u2019s Chief Marketing Officer. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"c-type__emphasis\"><strong>Sydney\u2019s take: A little context first<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>    <p><span><span>This chunk of text pulled <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/us\/en\/insights\/topics\/leadership\/employee-wellness-in-the-corporate-workplace.html\">straight from Deloitte\u2019s findings<\/a> is what dominates the data and stands out most for me:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"> <p><span><span><em>We uncovered that both employees and the C-suite are struggling to prioritize their wellbeing \u2014 and for most people, work is to blame. However, executives are significantly overestimating how well their employees are doing and how supported they feel by their leaders.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p> <\/blockquote>    <p><span><span>After countless conversations with friends and peers (largely outside the industry, but also a few chats with MICE professionals around my age), my head would absolutely have to be buried in the sand to say I\u2019m shocked that gaps exist.<\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>I am encouraged, though, by the idea that adding more meaningful and truly targeted wellness programming to incentive travel programs could better meet the needs of both leaders and their teams.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure2.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure2.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span><span><strong><span class=\"c-type__emphasis\">Are you helping or actively hurting employee wellbeing with the standards you set?<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>    <p><span><span>The first piece of advice I\u2019d offer up to well-meaning executives: Read. The. Room. Make a conscious choice to stay mindful of the changed circumstances and new realities we\u2019re all working in.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>If you don\u2019t know what challenges your employees are facing, <em>ask<\/em> \u2014 or find someone else in the company team members are comfortable speaking with to share this information. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>Understanding the challenges is the first step to determining the best ways to address them, whether that\u2019s through your rewards and motivation scheme, or through other means of redress. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure1.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure1.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>    <p><span><span><strong>What do your incentives communicate about you and your company? <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>Another excerpt from Deloitte\u2019s findings backs sentiments that, again, many of my friends have uttered: <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"> <p><span><span><em>Only 56% of employees think that their company\u2019s executives care about their well-being. However, the C-suite sees things in a much different light: 91% percent believe that employees feel their leaders care about them. It\u2019s a notable gap, one that the C-suite must work to address.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p> <\/blockquote>    <p><span><span>Here\u2019s where incentive travel can become one \u2014 and I stress, <em>just one<\/em> \u2014 of many, many structural reforms that are needed in the ways we think about and approach work. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure8.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Figure8.png\" alt=\"graph\"\/><\/noscript><\/figure>    <p><span><span>I\u2019ve enjoyed <a href=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/blog\/rethinking-incentive-travel-remote-and-hybrid-workers\">conversations<\/a> with incredible event profs like Anh Nguyen about how we can design incentive trips for the better by mixing formats and blending meeting or offsite elements with more traditional incentive designs. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>It thrills me to hear industry pros like Ellie MacPherson <a href=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/blog\/six-thoughts-where-world-incentive-travel-going\">argue in favor of data<\/a> that shows my generation wants to connect in-person for mentorship and career development conversations \u2014 opportunities we know incentive travel can spark. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>I\u2019m excited to see what SITE Young Leaders has planned for their <a href=\"https:\/\/siteglobal.com\/event\/site-young-leaders-conference\">2022 Conference<\/a> (it\u2019s front and center on my calendar for October 9, right before IMEX America!). <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>I throw an open question, then, back to the incentive planners and end users I know are part of the SITE community: how can you help leaders communicate that wellbeing matters and use incentive travel to help close this care and compassion gap that clearly exists, if Deloitte\u2019s data is to be believed? <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"c-type__emphasis\"><strong>Ending with a familiar note<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>    <p><span><span>I\u2019m eager to see what those more senior to me make of this data \u2014 starting with <u>my own boss\u2019 take<\/u>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <p><span><span>To end my own thoughts for now though, I can\u2019t help but notice that the report concludes on a familiar-sounding note:\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"> <p><span><span><em>The\u00a0health-savvy executive\u00a0appreciates that decisions relating to wellbeing can have a significant impact on the <strong>culture<\/strong> of the organization, the <strong>way in which work gets done<\/strong>, and <strong>the people and places beyond the organization\u2019s four walls<\/strong> \u2026 But employees want more than just a health promotion program or a wellness stipend.
